Words for Alias-style games

In Alias-style games you explain a word to your team using other words, without saying the word itself, until they guess it. The best words are ones you can describe in a sentence, so these lists lean on offices, shops, schools and science rather than on things you can only act.

198 words

Rules in short

  1. Split into teams. One player from the team explains the words for a fixed time, usually one minute.
  2. They describe the word with other words. They may not say the word or its root, and may not translate it or spell it.
  3. Teammates guess. Each correct guess scores a point.
  4. If the explainer skips a word, the team loses a point, so skip only when stuck.
  5. Explainers take turns, and the team with most points after an agreed number of rounds wins.

Why these packs

Words in the easy list usually have an obvious everyday description, like a receipt or a cashier. Medium words need a short comparison. Hard words are two- and three-word phrases, where the root rule bites hardest. Mix the levels if the teams are uneven.

Questions

Is this the official word list?

No. These are Fib's own words, regrouped by difficulty. They are lists you can use for explaining games, not the contents of any board game.

Can I print the words?

Yes. Use the print button, and the page prints as a clean list without the generator.

What about the root rule?

Agree before you start. Strict tables ban any word that shares a root with the target, relaxed ones only ban the word itself.
