Words for Crocodile

Crocodile is the classic acting game: one player shows a word with gestures and no sound, and everyone else shouts guesses. These lists favour things you can actually mime, such as animals, sports, circus acts and gym moves, and are grouped from easy to hard.

187 words

Rules in short

  1. One player draws a word and keeps it secret.
  2. They act it out with gestures and facial expressions only. No sound, no pointing at letters.
  3. Everyone else shouts guesses at once.
  4. Whoever guesses correctly acts out the next word.
  5. Agree on a time limit first, a minute works well, and count how many words each player gets.

Choosing the right level

Start a mixed group on the easy list, where a single gesture often is enough, such as a lion or a treadmill. Move to medium for two-part words. Keep the hard list for a final round, when everyone already knows each other's mime habits.

Questions

Can I act out any word?

Not every word mimes well. These lists lean on animals, sports, performers and everyday actions, which is why they suit Crocodile better than abstract words.

How many words should one round use?

About ten per team or per player keeps the game moving. Use the generator to draw them one at a time.

Does the phone give away the word?

Use the hide button: draw the word, look at it, hide it and then start acting. Nobody else sees the screen.

Same words, one liar

Pick any of these words for a round of Fib: everyone gets it, except the spy.
